Community Conversation – Prostate Cancer

On 27th October 2021, Community United West Berkshire hosted a community conversation about Prostate Cancer.

Evidence has shown that the lifetime risk of getting prostate cancer is 27% for a Black man, 7% for an Asian man, and 12% for a White man. The lifetime risk of dying from prostate cancer is 8% for a Black man, 2% for an Asian man, and 4% for a White man.

The Community Conversation is about increasing awareness of taking up health checks, effects on family, and the services available. The event was a Zoom conversation with a panel including a survivor, a carer and a specialist in prostate cancer care.

Community United is grateful to Berkshire West Clinical Care Group, Thames Valley Cancer Alliance, Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality (Reading), and Healthwatch West Berkshire for their support.
